This type of thriller follows the survival of a person or a group of people after a after a natural or man made disaster for example volcanoes , earthquakes and floods or Terrorists attacks and kidnappings. This is somewhat related to crime thrillers except it focuses on a police person or detective who tries to solve crime. Audiences usually take part in uncovering the crime , therefore it incorporates excessive use of plot twists and red herrings. This genre focuses on the government and it's stability. Usually a hero or heroine is employed in order to keep stability and insure nothing goes wrong. Usually it is preventing assassination of government figures or stopping wars. Examples of these are:

Supernatural Thrillers focus on other worldly elements that show out of the ordinary things happening to the protagonist and them having to overcome it. The protagonist usually posses a super natural gift that help them resolve the problem. It is very closely linked to religious thrillers often demons entering the body or alien life forms.
